| US Missile Shoots Down Wayward Spy Satellite
U.S officials say a missile launched from a Navy ship in the Pacific successfully hit a U.S. spy satellite more than 200 kilometers above the Earth. Mike O'Sullivan reports from Los Angeles that President Bush ordered the shoot-down last week out of concern that toxic fuel on board the wayward satellite could crash to Earth and harm people. .

After seventh place in Vorselaar, he has one more shot to close the season with a win Sunday. See full coverage of the Superprestige finale in Vorselaar. Silence-Lotto bikes stolen in Italy By Susan Westemeyer Team Silence-Lotto was not at the start of Saturday's second stage of the Giro della Provinicia di Grosseto in Italy, having had 16 team bikes stolen overnight. According to the team, an "organized gang" broke the windows of a team car and pushed it away, giving them access to the team truck. They then took eight racing bikes, eight reserve bikes and a number of spare tires. The team is insured against the loss, but had no possibility to ride on Saturday. Chauffeur Jo Plankaert was on his way to the team with spare bikes so they could train for the upcoming Trofeo Laigueglia.
'My Favorite Dog': Dueling Rhymers
I grew up on the prairie just northeast of Post Falls, graduated from PFHS, taught science and math in both Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene, raised Kentucky bluegrass seed for 13 years on the prairie while I was teaching (8 years in double shifts between my stints at PF and CDA), served as Exec. Director of the Intermountain Grass Growwers Assn. from 1976 - 1990 through some of the contentious, early field burning years (and have some great stories about Duane H's influence in structuring field burning decisions). I left CDA in 1990 to pursue school administration and am now the superintendent of the Lynden School District in far northwestern Washington. I spent three years as principal/superintendent in Skykomish, WA where the Great Northern RR (now BNSF) had a refueling depot (until the mid-1970s) to refuel their locomotives and to switch to electric locomotives for hauling over Steven's Pass and through the 7 mile tunnel.
The People’s Magic Bus
Mod Vespa purists may scoff, but Piaggio's latest scooter, the MP3, is way more gear than its reverse-tricycle appearance suggests. Twin front wheels keep the bike upright on the bumpiest streets, while an innovative electrohydraulic suspension system lets them tilt independently, which means the rider can lean aggressively into corners at angles of up to 40 degrees. An automatic suspension-locking system stabilizes the rig at speeds under 7 mph and eliminates the need for a kickstand. Plus, there's enough storage for two full-face helmets, a small bag, and objects up to a meter in length — like, say, a Genoa salami. — M.S. .
Gucci Group: The ice cream man cometh
Jan Zijderveld, who worked for him twice at Unilever and is now chairman of that company's North Africa and Middle East operations, recalls how Polet was determined in the mid-1990s to try out production of liquid margarine. His boss at the time balked at the idea, but Polet went ahead anyway, secretly buying a machine and setting up a pilot line in the back of an existing factory. Liquid margarine has gone on to become a big hit. "Asking for forgiveness," Polet says, "is better than asking for permission." Says Zijderveld: "He hates rules. He believes in keeping it simple." That same spirit of self-reliance and pushing the limits is taking hold at Gucci Group. Some functions, such as IT, global communications, and human resources, remain coordinated at the slimmed-down group head office in London, but everything else has been kicked down to the brands, which have full responsibility for their profits as well as their products.

A dieter's dream: For cardiologist, chocolate holds key to losing ...
Coffee at the home of cardiologist Dr. Robert Schneider and his wife, Joyce, begins with a plate of freshly baked brownies with walnuts. Then the Connecticut doctor cannot resist prescribing another of his wife's signature no-fat, sugar-free, chocolate-rich desserts. "Let's make you a nice hot fudge sundae," he says, and despite protests about the huge brownie that has already vanished, he heads into the kitchen promising, "This sundae has about 25 calories." Out comes the can of Hershey's unsweetened cocoa, some Greek nonfat yogurt, a big bag of the artificial sweetener Splenda and a basket of boxed fat-free, sugar-free Jell-O pudding. While Joyce Schneider slices a few berries and bananas, the doctor works on the "hot fudge" sauce, mixing equal parts cocoa, Splenda and a bit of water.
Hip-Hop Rumors: LaLa Plumps Up, Amerie Dropped? AHHmerican Gangster!
Somebody hit me with this as an explanation as to the title of Mariah's new CD, E=MC2. “Just to clarify your Mariah E=MC2 comment it has nothing to do with Eminem. E stands for Emancipation(as in the title of her last album) MC is self explanatory and the 2 or squared simply means part 2. Emancipation of Mariah 2 but doesn't E=MC2 sound alot better." Ddot the King hit me with that. Charlamagne from Wendy Williams said this: “Come on illseed! Mariah's album title is E for Emancipation the MC for Mariah Carey and the 2 represents the Sequel - Emancipation Part 2." LMAO! I didn't really think that the E meant Eminem, but it's more interesting that way.

WEDNESDAY, Feb. 20 (HealthDay News) -- Middle-aged American women are gaining weight, especially around the waist, while their risk of stroke has increased significantly, a new study finds. "In this study, we can't determine exact cause and effect, but it suggests there might be a relationship," said Dr. Amytis Towfighi, an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Southern California, who was expected to report the findings Wednesday at an American Stroke Association's International Stroke Conference in New Orleans. .
